A more refined Dodge Caliber has arrived in New Zealand as Chrysler continues its programme of model revitalisation at a heady pace.

The revised Dodge Caliber comes hard on the heels of upgrades to the Dodge Journey 7-seater crossover, Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Patriot in recent months.

As with those other models, the focus of attention in the 2010 Dodge Caliber has been a makeover for the passenger cabin, which is now more stylish, luxurious and comfortable.

The 2010 Dodge Journey now arriving in New Zealand features a new-look cabin with dark-slate upholstery creating a more luxurious and restful atmosphere for the driver and up to six passengers, all for the same price as the outgoing model, which was already many thousands of dollars below its mostly 4-cylinder competition and now represents even more of a bargain.
"The changes are subtle but very effective and do much to underline the exceptional value of the new Dodge Journey," says Todd Groves, Divisional Manager with Chrysler importer Sime Darby Automobiles New Zealand Ltd.

The New Zealand Chrysler team has been buoyed by the unveiling of an ambitious 5-year plan to steer the company and its brands into the future.

A total of 21 new models are to be introduced by Chrysler before 2014, with the aim of doubling sales worldwide, returning the company to profitability and repaying the US Government loans.

Plans to shut down assembly or sell off the iconic American muscle car have been shelved and the Chrysler Group Conner Avenue Assembly Plant - the exclusive home of Dodge Viper production since 1995 - will continue to build the V-10 powered sports car.

And that's good news for New Zealand motorsport participants, who will still be able to purchase a specially prepared Dodge Viper SRT10 for track racing.
